ABOUT THE SHOW
Meet Usher — ”a fat, Black, gay theatre writer struggling to pen a musical about a fat, Black, gay theatre writer”… who is struggling to pen a musical. Caught in a “strange loop” of self-perception, societal pressures, and intrusive thoughts, Usher battles internalized racism, body image, self-doubt, and the desire to make art that matters. As he navigates the messy, often brutal landscape of identity and creative expression, Usher exposes the raw, unfiltered inner monologue behind his polished exterior.
Winner of the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 2 Tony Awards (including Best New Musical), 2 Drama Desk Awards, 2 Obie Awards, and 7 Lucille Lortel Award nominations, A STRANGE LOOP is a bold, brilliant, and blisteringly honest masterpiece that leaves audiences spellbound.
